The Trading and Supply (T&S) business is one of the largest energy trading operations in the world. This role offers a unique opportunity to be exposed to the global Trading business collaborating with Traders, Business Developers/ Origination and specialist functions such as Group Treasury, Credit, Legal, Tax, Technical Accounting and Market Risk, to provide world class financial structuring solutions that support delivery of incremental commodity trading margin. This role sits within the Trading Commodity Finance (TCF) team, which is the centre of excellence for structured trade finance as a lender to counterparties in T&S.
The TCF Advisor leads the financing workstream and supports opportunity identification, development of appropriate financing structures, identification and mitigation of risk, economic evaluation, coordination with specialist functions such as Credit, Legal, Tax, Technical Accounting, Market Risk etc., external negotiations and managing the governance and approval process. The TCF Advisor will also play an active role in continuous learning culture.
The role also entails frequent engagement with T&S leadership at VP and EVP levels across Crude, Products (including Low Carbon Fuels) and Gas, Power and Environmental Products alongside external engagements including those with counterparties and other co-lenders like banks and funds.
The ideal experience and qualifications are:
- Expertise across the spectrum of Finance competences including valuations, cashflow modelling, financial due diligence and knowledge of tax, treasury, and risk matters.
- Ability to play the independent finance role and know when to involve functions/ CoEs
- Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process and risk management, bringing analytics and insights to the table.
- Learner mindset is very important for this role - self learning initiatives would be required and welcomed to support the steep learning curve experienced in this role
- Preferably some previous T&S, Treasury, FTM, Banking or other similar experiences where experience and understanding of structuring financing solutions has been gained.

- Ability to effectively communicate, challenge and influence at various levels internally and externally whilst remaining bottom line focused.
- Project management skills and flexibility given the support across multiple T&S businesses/ commodities.
- Strong business and customer focus
