ArcelorMittal’s Sustainable Development team plays a central role in advancing the organisation’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda. The team leads stakeholder engagement efforts to ensure transparent and meaningful dialogue with investors, regulators, NGOs, and internal stakeholders. It is responsible for conducting double materiality assessments to identify and prioritise ESG issues that are financially and societally significant.
The team develops and maintains ESG-related policies and strategies aligned with global frameworks such as CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It oversees the preparation and assurance of sustainability disclosures, ensuring consistency, credibility, and compliance across integrated and standalone reports. Through cross-functional collaboration, the team drives continuous improvement in ESG performance and reporting quality.
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Environmental Specialist to join our Sustainable Development team in London. This role will focus on advancing our work in biodiversity and ecosystems, aligning with ESRS E4 and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) frameworks.
So, what will you do?
As part of our sustainability function, the person will play a key role in shaping how we assess, manage, and report nature-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities across our operations and value chain. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to embed nature-positive strategies and support our broader environmental goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead biodiversity and ecosystem assessments in line with ESRS E4 and TNFD guidance i.e. LEAP assessments) in collaboration with business units.
- Develop guidance and support key business operations to develop and maintain biodiversity management plans.
- Support the integration of nature-related risks and opportunities into corporate strategy and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed nature-positive approaches into decision-making.
- Stay abreast of evolving regulatory and voluntary frameworks related to biodiversity and ecosystems. Contribute to stakeholder engagement, including NGOs, regulators, and industry groups.

What are we looking for?

We want someone who’s:
- Strong understanding of biodiversity, ecosystems, and nature-related financial disclosures.
- Familiarity with ESRS E4, TNFD, and related environmental reporting standards.
- Experience conducting biodiversity assessments, ecosystem service evaluations, or nature-related risk analysis.
- Experience with global nature datasets (e.g., IBAT) and GIS.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- An academic background, ideally in environmental science, ecology, conservation biology, or a related field.
- A proactive, collaborative mindset with a passion for driving positive change.
- Advanced level in English Knowledge of additional languages will be considered as an asset
