We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Digital Printer / Finisher to join our team at our head office in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
Job Purpose
To operate and maintain digital printing and finishing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials that meet customer specifications and production deadlines. The role involves preparing files for print, running digital print machines, and performing finishing tasks such as cutting, laminating, binding, silicon edging / automated edge application and packing. Ensuring quality control, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards are a key responsibility
Nature and scope
Operating within a fast-paced print production environment, with responsibility for the full lifecycle of printed materials—from file setup and digital print operation to final finishing and dispatch. The role requires close collaboration with graphic designers, production supervisors, and Project Managers to ensure specifications and deadlines are met.
The position involves working with a variety of digital printing and finishing equipment, including large-format printers, cutters, laminators, and binding machines. Precision, attention to detail, and adherence to quality standards are essential, as the finished products directly impact customer satisfaction and company reputation.
The scope of the role extends beyond basic print production to include troubleshooting equipment, performing routine maintenance, managing print queues, and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures.
This role will also support inventory control / stock management of print media and finishing supplies, and contribute to process improvements within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Press
- Scheduling and organising print files to ensure customer deadlines are met
- Checking and verifying customer files for accuracy and resolving errors using adobe software
- Liaise and support Project Managers with graphics queries
- Prepare and processing artwork for printing
- Producing graphic layouts when requested
- Utilise RIP software and processes to output jobs to printers.
Press
- Operation of printing equipment – ensuring maximum efficiency and min downtime.
- Control of print media including materials and storage
- Maintenance and cleaning of print equipment
- Completion of job sheets and accurate recording of production utilisations always seeking maximum yield.
Post-Press
- Operation of cutting / trimming equipment
- Planning and scheduling of printed media to ensure finishing department have clear priorities
- Maintenance and cleaning of cutting machine
- System close out of production orders
- Quality inspection of printed media to ensure business standards are maintained
Finishing
- Preparation of printed media to ensure ‘right first time’ fit onto exhibition stand framework
- Preparation and packaging of completed fabrics department
- Familiarisation and operation of silicon edging / automated edge application equipment
- Applying vinyl to stand components or on-site builds
- Understanding of the laminating process and how it relates to stand components
- Undertake quality control checks to prevent onsite issues arising.
Monday – Friday 07.30 – 15.30
Flexibility is essential as there will be a requirement to work additional hours and occasional weekend work to ensure that our customer needs are met.
Salary: starting salary as detailed - Dependant on Experience.
