About the role
Great opportunity for a Dance School Assistant to join the Dance School team
A great opportunity to be part of the Royal Academy of Dance’s vibrant Dance School, based at our state-of-the-art global headquarters in Battersea. We are looking for committed and engaging Dance School Assistants to support the delivery of our exciting programme of dance classes for young people and adults during term time – afternoons and evenings (Monday to Friday) and all day on Saturdays.
Whether supporting in the studio or on the front desk, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the school and creating a positive experience for our students and their families.
As a Dance School Assistant, your responsibilities will include chaperoning children and young people to and from studios, supporting teachers during dance classes, acting as the first point of contact for students, parents/guardians, and visitors, managing queries in person, by phone, and via email, assisting the Dance School team, teachers, and pianists as needed, and carrying out basic administrative tasks.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working with children and young people
- Knowledge of basic ballet technique and/or other dance styles and class structures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in handling enquiries and providing high levels of customer service
- Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), email, and internet usage
- The ability to work well in a team, remain calm under pressure, and follow set procedures
We are passionate about providing a positive workplace culture. Staff discounts on dance and fitness classes and wellbeing resources, plus events and volunteering opportunities enhance the RAD experience.
Due to the nature of the RAD’s work, the successful candidate will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Applications which do not include a full employment history and reference details will not be taken forward to the shortlisting stage.
The post you are applying for is classed as having a high degree of contact with children and involves ‘regulated activity’. As such it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
All colleagues are required to promote and safeguard the welfare of children they are responsible for, or come into contact with, and to adhere to and ensure compliance with the RADs Safeguarding Policy at all times.
