Job Overview:
We are seeking highly motivated and customer-focused individuals to join our team as one of our Customer Service Assistants. The role includes serving ice cream and refreshments to members of the public at our static sites, or on ice cream vans. These may be at fixed pitches, or events across Newcastle, Northumberland, or beyond.
The role is seasonal, running 7 days a week April-October. November- March, there may still be shifts available, however it my be reduced to weekends only, depending on the weather. A standard day would start at 10:00 at our factory and then run untill 18:00, with the latest finish being 19:30 in peak summer. Some events e.g. race days, rugby matches, festivals may fall outside of these times, but shifts would always be checked with employees before being allocated to them.
We aim to be as flexible as possible when allocating shifts. You tell us when you are available and we will allocate you shifts, according to your availability. We understand you may have other commitments such as studies or family, so try to be as flexible as possible. We do ask that staff wanting shifts weekly, are able to work some weekend dates, if they would like week days shifts also. Our start dates are flexible also and we hire for this position several times a year, as demand in the business increases.
Duties:
- Creating and decorating ice cream masterpieces
- Processing card/cash payments
- Stocking/stock checking products
- Maintaining a clean vehicle/site
Essential criteria:
- Weekend availability
- Friendly and polite
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
- Drivers must be comfortable/willing to learn to drive an ice cream van (full training provided)
Desirable criteria:
- EU manual driver's license (please specify issue date)
- Previous customer experience
- Previous cash handling experience
- Knowledge of food health & safety
- Dietary & allergen awareness
- Experience of driving larger vehicles
