Commercial Estates Surveyor

Norfolk County Council
£48,610 - £52,594 a year
Norwich, England
Full time

Commercial Estates Surveyor | 8301 | 1 x Permanent Contract + 1 x Four month Temporary contract | 37 hours per week | £48,610 to £52,594 per annum (Scale L) | Norfolk

Now is a great time to join Norfolk County Council Property team; we are continuing to implement our 2022 to 2026 Strategic Property Management Framework, which seeks to improve the quality and performance of our Estate through implementing a property challenge approach. We have a large and diverse property portfolio that we leverage to add both financial and non-financial value to the organisation.

Norfolk County Council owns and occupies around 1500 sites, held principally to support service delivery and policy objectives. Property is acquired or disposed of based on changing service requirements, changing council policies or to improve the efficiency of the overall portfolio.

With interest ranging from small easements, through to leasehold and freehold ownership, this is where you come in. In Estates, we actively support delivery of change to those interests as well as routine estate management activity, making this a very busy client facing team. Operating a case management approach you will be expected to deliver all aspects of operational estate management, including landlord and tenant negotiation, as well as support strategic estate management.

The role will report to the Head of Estates, Partnerships and Programmes and be part of the Estates team within Corporate Property. You will be working with all members of the team, our colleagues in the financial services and operational services, and with wider stakeholder groups including external contractors and suppliers.

As a property professional you will have experience of working in a highly regularised environment as well as experience of Landlord & Tenant work. You will need strong IT and organisational skills and excellent communication and attention to detail. Knowledge of the local government governance processes and procedures is desirable but not essential – we recognise that this is a unique role that requires a mix of skills and experience, and role specific training will be provided as required.

We welcome applications from candidates who wish to work virtually outside of Norfolk and can travel to the county when required.

In return we think we have lots to offer: the exciting challenge of the role itself, the working environment at Norfolk County Council where we put work/life balance at the forefront, offering flexible, smarter working arrangements underpinned by leading edge technology. There’s also Norfolk as a destination, where you’ll be surrounded by a unique blend of beaches, broads, countryside and culture.

We might be biased, but we think it’s a great role in a great place. If you think you have what it takes, we would love to hear from you. For an informal conversation about this vacancy please contact Deborah Ansari, Head of Estates, Partnerships and Programmes at [email protected]
