Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Coding Tutor and Assistant to provide personalised educational support to students in our courses and Summer Camps. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong understanding of various subjects. This role involves working closely with students to enhance their learning experience, build their confidence, and help them achieve their academic goals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to individual student needs.
- Assess students' strengths and weaknesses to develop customised lesson plans.
- Provide clear explanations of complex concepts in an accessible manner.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes student engagement.
- Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding progress and areas for improvement.
- Stay updated on educational best practices and curriculum changes relevant to the subjects taught.
Qualifications
- A degree in Education, a specific subject area, or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of the subject matter being taught, with the ability to explain concepts clearly.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage students effectively.
- Patience, adaptability, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed academically.
- Familiarity with various teaching methods and learning styles is an advantage
Requirements for a candidate
Mastery of minimum one or more instruments:
- Mobile app development: App Inventor, Phone Gap, Xamarin, Android studio, Xcode, Thunkable
- Programming languages: Java, Swift or Object-C, Python, PHP, JavaScript
- Game programming: Scratch, ScratchJR, Blockly, Unity3D + C#, Java, Python for Minecraft programming, Roblox Studio
- Robotics: Little Bits, Makey Makey, Arduino etc.
- Web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Tilda, Wix, Wordpress
- Video blogs
- Animation knowledge: Adobe Animate
- Graphic editors: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch.
