Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Coding Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, along with excellent organisational and administrative skills. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate coding for medical records, which supports the overall efficiency of our healthcare operations.
We are seeking someone who has good teamwork, and high attention to detail. There is some flexibility in the days and hours offered for the right candidate, however, please note you must be available on Mondays and Fridays.
Duties
- Clinical coding of patient medical records from hospitals and clinical correspondence.
- Accurately read-coding data on SystmOne into the patient record
- Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions.
- Review all clinical letters ensuring they are processed appropriately, in line with protocols.
- File and store records as required.
- Action all incoming emails and mail in a timely manner in relation to clinical coding.
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient healthcare records.
- Input and extract data as required to support practice reports.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical coding role or similar administrative position is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are required for effective collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.

Essential
- Previous experience in an NHS environment, using SystmOne and undertaking Clinical Coding tasks.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Experience of using Office computer programs including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to liaise with all levels of staff and the public in a confident and effective manner.
- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
