About the Role
Tendring PCN has an opportunity for a coder/summariser/administrator to join our team to assist our busy practice support teams in the smooth delivery of excellent patient care. This position is offered on a full-time basis, 37.5 hours per week. Salary, working patterns and locations are to be discussed at interview.
Our PCN covers patient populations registered at Great Bentley Surgery, St James Surgery in Clacton and Mayflower Medical Centre in Harwich. The role would be based at one of our 3 practices.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Undertaking a variety of administrative duties such as the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
- Data entry and read coding of relevant patient information and medical data into EMIS clinical system.
- Scanning patient information into computerised records, including medical documents, hospital records and letters, as necessary.
- Allocating workflow for review by doctors or other health professionals.
- Dealing with referrals to primary care.
- Processing practice post and emails.
- Registering new patients.
- Covering reception, as and when required, supporting with non-clinical requests submitted via AskmyGP.
- Handling enquiries efficiently.
- Summarising clinical correspondence.
About the Candidate

Applicants should have the following skills and experience:
- Administration experience, with excellent IT, time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, working in a confidential and discreet manner.
- Ability to multi-task, work efficiently and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as independently.
- Primary care experience is desirable but not essential.
Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

Fixed term contract extensions are subject to continued funding.
