We're Hiring: Caretaker – Maintenance
Rugeley Town Council | Part-Time | 18 hours/week
Are you practical, hands-on, and take pride in keeping spaces safe, functional, and welcoming? Rugeley Town Council is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Caretaker – Maintenance to help us care for our buildings and facilities – including our theatre, council offices, and car parks.
About the Role:
You’ll be our go-to person for a range of tasks from plumbing and carpentry to general repairs and planned maintenance. Your work will help ensure our spaces are always in top condition for staff, visitors, and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Minor repairs: plumbing, electrical, carpentry
- Routine checks: fire alarms, emergency lighting, water testing
- Theatre upkeep: lighting, seating, dressing rooms, stage areas
- Garden and car park maintenance: planting, cleaning, drainage
- Setting up seating and locking up after events
- Occasional bar duties
What We’re Looking For:
- A good level of general maintenance knowledge
- Someone who’s organised, proactive, and able to work independently
- Strong team spirit and good communication skills
- Physically able to lift (up to 25kg), climb ladders, and work indoors and outdoors
- Willingness to occasionally gain new qualifications relevant to the role
