Carers Community Engagement Officer

Fixed-Term Contract until 31 March 2026

Are you passionate about making a difference to carers’ lives? Do you have the skills to engage with diverse communities and build strong partnerships? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking a Carers Community Engagement Officer to play a pivotal role in identifying and supporting carers from underrepresented groups and those at risk of poorer outcomes. You will work directly within Staffordshire communities, developing meaningful connections and ensuring carers have access to the information, advice, and support they need.

About the Role

The Carers Community Engagement Officer will:

  • Embed in local communities to identify carers from underrepresented groups (including BAME communities, rurally or digitally isolated carers, and male carers).
  • Build networks and partnerships with organisations such as MPFT, North Staffs Combined Health Care, Healthwatch, local CVS, Alzheimer’s Society, grassroots VCSE groups, community and faith organisations.
  • Engage with primary care settings to ensure carers are identified early in their journey.
  • Raise awareness of carers’ needs among professionals, organisations, and communities, working towards our Carer Friendly Mark accreditation.
  • Promote digital inclusion by working with projects like the Digital Solution ARF to support digitally isolated carers.
  • Improve visibility and accessibility of information through targeted distribution of resources such as Staffordshire Together for Carers leaflets.

Key Objectives

  • Strengthen networks and partnerships across health, social care, and VCSE organisations.
  • Increase identification of carers from underrepresented groups across Staffordshire.
  • Raise awareness of carers’ needs among professionals and community organisations.
  • Ensure carers can access the right support at the right time.
  • Support communities to develop capacity to identify and sustain carers in their role while maintaining their wellbeing.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in community engagement, partnership building, or outreach work.
  • Skilled in engaging with diverse and underrepresented groups.
  • Confident in building relationships with professionals across health, social care, and the voluntary sector.
  • Able to work independently, manage priorities, and travel across Staffordshire as required (a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential).
  • Committed to improving outcomes for carers and strengthening community support.
