Care Supervisor - with Axe Valley Home Care

What will be your job purpose?
The post-holder is employed by Axe Valley Home Care Limited, working within the geographical area defined as East Devon and West Dorset. You will respond flexibly to support the smooth running of the Community Service to enable the delivery of a high-quality outcome-based care and support service to individuals in line with the requirements of CQC. You will work positively with others as an ambassador for the company and to build effective working relationships.
You will assume responsibility for a locality of clients and care team members - for this reason you must demonstrate excellent team building skills and comprehensive care delivery knowledge. This is an exciting role which you can very much make your own.
What will be your pay rate?
· Your rate of pay will be £14.00 per hour, rising to £15.00 per hour following successful completion of your probationary period.
· You shall also be paid a payment of £183.00 for each week during which you are on call, which will be no more than 15 hours each week.
When will you work?
· The standard hours of work per week are 37.5, Monday to Friday (full -time).
· Hours will be arranged on a fixed 2 week rolling rota.
· Flexibility in working hours and pattern will be required in order to respond to the changing requirements of staffing the service.
· A working day will comprise of 7.5 hours as follows:
Early: 07.00 - 15.15 inclusive of a 45 min meal break
Late: 08:45 – 17:00 inclusive of a 45 min meal break
What will be your key responsibilities?
· To complete initial assessments for new clients and ensure care plans are kept up to date, meeting the holistic needs of each person throughout our provision of the service to them.
· To maintain a professional and hygienic appearance.
· To maintain factual and detailed office records
· To follow company policies and procedures at all times
· To attend regular review meetings, annual appraisals, team meetings, training courses and follow-up refresher courses as required.
· To oversee the completion of quality monitoring calls and regularly check on their progress.
· To oversee the completion staff appraisals, supervisions and work place observations, making sure that they are up to date. To support the rest of the supervisor team in maintaining these reviews.
· To play an active role in auditing processes, as required.
· To provide effective communication between the company, the care team, service users and their family/representatives, and external organisations e.g. ensuring staff and service users are always informed of changes to their work rosters / visit times / care requirements.
· To offer support and guidance to staff on a daily basis and develop good team working relationships
· To record all information received, and promptly action and resolve all issues as far as practicable.
· To monitor the PASSsystem to avoid instances of ‘missed visits’ or incomplete care tasks and take action where appropriate.
· To assist in covering the workload during absences of colleagues within the supervisor team. This may include dealing with unfamiliar workloads.
· To undertake overtime as required to cover absenteeism within the supervisor team
· To follow up any complaints and incidents, no matter how minor, and to document action taken in accordance with the company policy.
· To assist in carrying out unallocated visit(s) to Service Users as a priority over all other tasks.
· Take responsibility for innovative practice that will increase recruitment and retention of staff.
· To undertake other such duties as deemed appropriate by your line manager
How will you be trained?
· We offer a full induction for our staff, and you will receive regular courses to keep you up to date in current practice. We will also support staff to undertake bespoke courses as necessary for your development to enable progression through the company. You will be paid to attend training at your usual hourly rate and conditions linked to length of service will apply for any company funded courses/qualifications.
