About the Role

DP World in the UK is at the heart of Britain’s trading future, providing the right trading infrastructure, smart logistical solutions and the benefits of freeport status to our customers. The Optimisation team is growing and are looking for a Business Process Improvement Lead

Location: Southampton

Hours: Mon – Fri (8.30am – 5pm)

How You Will Contribute

  • Proactively challenge operational KPIs and implement sustainable solutions to ensure targets are met.
  • Provide data driven recommendations to planning and execution teams to unlock improvement opportunities.
  • Promote and manage the use of Lean and continuous improvement techniques across operations.
  • Identify and implement innovative planning strategies to improve terminal efficiency.
  • Support operational teams by analysing performance trends and forecasting future improvements.
  • Lead cross functional operational projects from concept to implementation.
  • Track and measure the impact of improvements using appropriate tools and methodologies.
  • Monitor departmental processes to ensure compliance with defined procedures.
  • Maintain up to date documentation on operational processes and improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Management Team to achieve and sustain terminal performance targets.
  • Uphold Health & Safety standards, reporting incidents in line with safety procedures.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience in port operations, logistics, or distribution (desirable)
  • Good understanding of container terminal operations (desirable)
  • Familiarity with terminal operating systems like Zodiac or Navis (desirable)
  • Strong data analysis skills to identify root causes and drive improvements
  • Ability to translate operational needs into clear business processes
  • Experience with business process modelling tools
  • Skilled in creating test plans, assessing change impacts and developing training materials
  • Minimum A-level education or equivalent
  • Additional qualifications in Lean, Agile, or project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) are desirable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Practical application of project coordination with associated qualifications, such as Prince2 (desirable).

  • Due to manufacturing guidelines on equipment and site safety critical health and safety requirements, we have strict weight and medical requirements that need to be met and maintained. For our safety critical roles health and medical and fitness checks are performed. Requirements include, but are not limited to, weight, height, blood pressure and hearing.
  • We may close our roles early, depending on the number of applications received.
