Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail focused Bookkeeper to provide essential support to our Accountant and team. This role involves managing daily financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with financial reporting to ensure informed decision-making and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical abilities, experience with bookkeeping software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage, excellent attention to detail, and the capability to work independently with discretion. Strong communication and organisational skills are also required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the general ledger and accounting systems
- Accurately record all financial transactions in a timely manner
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and supplier statements
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting
- Organise and maintain digital filing systems and financial records
- Support payroll processing and pension contributions
- Identify and report any inconsistencies or discrepancies to the Accountant
- Provide general administrative and finance-related support as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability manage multiple tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A relevant qualification in finance or accounting is preferred but not essential
