TalentBoard is seeking dedicated and compassionate Mentors to work across mainstream and specialist schools in Wirral, helping students with SEMH, ADHD, and other behavioural challenges thrive in their educational journey.
Whether you have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or have supported individuals with special needs in other settings, we welcome your application.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
- Implement tailored strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Deliver targeted intervention programmes such as conflict resolution and anger management.
- Build trust and act as a positive role model for students.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and leadership teams to develop and implement behaviour plans.
- Support inclusive learning environments and assist with smooth transitions for pupils.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, families, and staff.
- Empathy and patience to support students with complex needs.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and resilience in challenging situations.
- Organised and detail-oriented with the ability to manage intervention plans.
- A team player who collaborates well with school staff and external agencies.
- Understanding of safeguarding practices (training provided if needed).
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND.
