Role Overview
As a Night Shift Care Assistant, you will support our residents with their care needs during the night. As a carer your role is to, with other staff meet the personal care needs of the residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence and to help in the general day to day activities of the home. All staff at the Firs Care Home must reflect the philosophy of our mission statement in their everyday practice.
This is a bank position, offering flexible hours based on availability.
ACCOUNTABLE TO: CARE MANAGER/DEPUTY MANAGER
Main Responsibilities
- Perform all duties in accordance with the homes policies, procedures, staff handbook and codes of practice. These policies, procedures, staff handbook and practice contain information that is more comprehensive and should be always used as a reference.
- To be aware of the procedures for fire and health and safety of The Firs and attend fire training and drills.
- Maintain a clean safe, tidy, well-ventilated environment to ensure protection for the residents from infection, accidents, and fire
- Report any unsafe hazardous working conditions or equipment breakdowns to the senior on duty.
- Help with the psychological care of residents by promoting recreational activity and encouraging residents to participate, being a good listener and having empathy with resident's needs promoting independence and making them feel secure and content in their home.
- Follow resident's care plans to maintain individual care, evaluating care needs and reviewing risk assessments where appropriate, take part in ongoing care planning development, planning daily care and other duties such as feeding residents.
- Ensure that you are up-to-date with your yearly mandatory trainings.

- Previous care experience is helpful but not essential – training is provided
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 1 – 48 per week
