An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 0.6WTE permanent Band 4 Assistant Psychologist within the West of Scotland Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service (WoSACFS) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow. The WoSACFS service cares for people age 16 and over, offering both out-patient and in-patient care to adults with cystic fibrosis from Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Arran, plus other health board areas.
The Cystic Fibrosis Psychology Team provides highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy, alongside offering advice and consultation on patients’ psychological care to MDT members. We work closely with Respiratory Consultants, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, pharmacists and research nurses. The post-holder will work within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures, whilst being part of the Cystic Fibrosis Psychology Team and working under supervision from a clinical/counselling psychologist. You will hold a minimum 2:1 undergraduate honours degree in Psychology or equivalent, be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, and have an interest in applying psychology to working with people with psychological difficulties related to their long term health condition. Knowledge of psychological theory and models of application is essential, along with sound knowledge of research methodology and data collection. The post-holder should be able to work within a team but also be able to work independently. The post-holder should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
The CF Psychology Team sits within the wider Acute Clinical Psychology Service which operates across NHS GGC and you will have access to a range of professional development and CPD opportunities.
