To support psychological services throughout Omega Care Homes and the Foundations For Life School, Omega Life Clinical is seeking a Senior Assistant Psychologist with proven expertise and initiative to join our clinical team. Working collaboratively with diverse teams to improve the emotional health and developmental growth of the children and young people under our care, this senior post provides an exciting chance to take a more active role in leading and organising psychological input in residential care and educational settings. This would suit somebody who is further on in their career and training to become a qualified Psychologist.

Meet Dr Carly Pointon, Director of Clinical Services:
Since graduating in 2000, Dr Carly Pointon has worked in a variety of psychological settings, bringing with her over 25 years of considerable experience. Starting in Forensic Psychology and then qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, Carly has worked with charities, HMPS, schools, residential homes, Special Educational Needs settings, the courts and 1000s of children, young people and families. As the creator of Pointon Psychology and a senior operational leader in the United Kingdom, Carly has demonstrated remarkable leadership in providing high impact services by managing sizable clinical teams across several sites and sectors. In her capacity as Head of Clinical Operations for a leading provider, she managed a large team over 100s of locations in the UK, including Scotland and Wales. Carly's enthusiasm for creating ground breaking ideas and cultivating deep connections that improve service delivery characterises her leadership.
Carly's personal journey was shaped by overcoming childhood experiences that shape who she is today, and she is a values driven, sincere, and compassionate leader dedicated to assisting others. Her strong passion in assisting individuals in discovering their own unique and healthy emotional wellbeing is the foundation of Omega Clinical. Apart from her professional responsibilities, Carly actively supports charities such as Nacoa UK and Endometriosis UK, encouraging aspiring Psychologists and motivating women in business.

As we begin operations in the summer of 2025, Omega Clinical is looking for a committed and driven Senior Assistant Psychologist to join our expanding and new team. Working under the supervision of a qualified Practitioner Psychologist you will assist with the work of the clinical services to provide psychological evaluations and therapies for a variety of individuals across our companies and external contracts in this fascinating position. Our Senior Assistant Psychologist role also adheres to the BPS guidelines for Assistant Psychologists published in June 2024 and ensure that individuals in role work within their competence and stage within their career. As a Senior Assistant Psychologist, you will bring your experience and ideas to the development of this new service and compliment the other Assistant Psychologists role. Your responsibilities:
Your work will directly contribute to improving the emotional wellbeing and developmental outcomes of young people in these environments by:
Working within OLC’s Operational Strategies including Service Request Systems, Delivery Pathways, Outcome Monitoring and Service Evaluation.
Assisting with assessment including administration, scoring, and contributing to the interpretation of standardised psychological assessments (once fully trained).
To show a sense of autonomy in caseload management and understanding elements of intervention planning and effective use of supervision.
Liaison with stakeholders including families, external agencies and staff teams.
Using information to support psychological formulation and intervention planning under supervision. There would be an expectation that as a Senior Assistant Psychologist you would have experience in this area
Contributing to the development and implementation of evidence based psychological interventions and where appropriate training will be provided.
Preparing detailed reports and documentation to inform clinical decisions and share findings with young people and stakeholders. A certain level of independence will be expected in this role.
Supporting in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions where appropriate.
To work collaboratively with all disciplines such as Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy colleagues.
Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of training across the organisation alongside the other Trainers in Omega Training.
To complete research as and when required within the team and disseminate to colleagues.
Building positive, empathetic relationships with young people, families, and carers to facilitate engagement and progress.
Maintaining accurate and confidential client records in line with professional and organisational standards.
Participating in ongoing continuing professional development and supervision to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge.
