As part of the Business Services Department – Property Services, the Controller of Premises Coordinator will play a key role within the Building Maintenance Team, working alongside Building Surveyors and other technical officers.
This is a leadership position focused on enhancing building safety, improving operational efficiency, and reducing costs across East Sussex. You’ll be responsible for identifying, planning, and delivering service improvements, while ensuring compliance and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.
You’ll lead a small team of Controller of Premises Support Operatives, overseeing both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic activity. Your role will include:
- Supervising and supporting staff performance, enabling professional development and ensuring measurable contributions.
- Driving service improvements that align with safety standards and operational goals.
- Collaborating with technical teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality property services.
- Managing compliance and risk, ensuring buildings meet safety regulations and standards.

- Apply effective techniques to gather requirements and understand stakeholder priorities, ensuring service challenges are identified and resolved through process optimisation and smart use of technology.
- Collaborate with process owners and key stakeholders, supporting team objectives, driving continuous improvement, and deploying resources effectively.
- Analyse and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data, providing informed recommendations to senior management that influence strategic decision-making and drive service enhancements.
