Aircraft Sheet Metal Worker / Fitter - Fixed Term Contract
Aircraft Restoration Co. (ARCo) is a family owned organisation which specialises in the restoration, maintenance and operation of rare and unique vintage aircraft based at the historic Duxford Airfield in South Cambridgeshire.
We are currently looking for experienced Aircraft Sheet Metal Workers to assist with long term high profile projects
Duties:
- Fabricating parts, mainly from aluminium, to drawing as required.
- Skilled at cutting, bending, hand forming, wheeling and drilling to a high standard.
- Undertaking a variety of sheet metal repairs.
- Drilling off, fabricating and replacing components as required.
- Working to high degrees of accuracy at all times.
- Riveting components together accurately and consistently.
- Maintaining accurate records of work carried out and material traceability at all times.
Required Skills:
- The ability to manufacture complex metal components and skins to close tolerances.
- Mastery of essential methods of assembly i.e. Riveting.
- The ability to work to engineering drawings & manuals.
- A keen eye for fine detail and pride in workmanship.
- Able to remain task-focused within the busy hangar environment and be self-motivated as part of a wider team.
- Good organisational skills and tidy working habits. The hangar working environment is kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and everyone within the team is expected to proactively help maintain this.
Your Background:
- Previous Aircraft Sheet Metal fabrication experience is essential.
- Used to reading and understanding complex engineering drawings.
- Experience of using and designing jigs and fixtures would be a distinct advantage.
- You will be used to working on your own initiative and managing your own workload.
- High standard of accuracy together with an eye for detail.
