Are you someone who is looking for an opportunity to be involved in enhancing the lives & wellbeing of older people experiencing dementia? Our service users need support in many aspects of their lives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the dementia inpatient service on Ward 2 the Mount. Ward 2 provides 24hr assessment and treatment for females living with dementia.

We are looking to recruit someone into our established Activity Coordinator Team who can work alongside our Occupational Therapy Service to provide person-centred care for people with dementia.

The jobholder will be actively involved in planning, organising and delivering high quality and meaningful recreational activities on either an individual or groupwork basis.

If you have a genuine desire to work with this service user group & you want to work in a stimulating, friendly & caring environment where you can make a difference in people’s lives then why not join our dedicated team at the Mount? We would welcome informal enquiries should this opportunity interest you

A person-centred, strength-based approach will be required to ensure that activities are tailored to the person to meet their individual needs and promote wellbeing. The jobholder will work independently with people living with dementia.

The jobholder will communicate easily and sensitively with older people and their carer/families.

Professional qualifications are not required, but the jobholder will have experience of working with older people including those who have for example dementia, cognitive impairment, physical disability, and clinically related behaviours that are challenging.

The job holder will contribute to the maintenance of a positive and creative environment for undertaking activities.

The job holder will be expected to work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and volunteers offering guidance and support.

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. As a teaching trust with strong links to local universities, we are a centre of excellence for teaching, research and development.

There are many benefits of working for LYPFT including fantastic employee wellbeing support, 27 - 33 days annual leave, flexible working and remote working arrangements, the NHS Pension Scheme, coaching, support and opportunities for career development and training and education support alongside a range of exclusive discounts and payment schemes including for cars, extra leave days and more NHS Discount Offers.

We also have an incredible bank department, offering variety of roles in nursing, allied health professions, healthcare support worker and administration clerical. Permanent employees are automatically added to bank.

Applicants should be aware that any individual requiring a visa to work in the UK, the Trust provides sponsorship for registered healthcare practitioner roles only (this does not include Healthcare Support Workers) . This is an essential requirement, and the Trust is unable to offer you a role if you do not meet Trust requirements for sponsorship and Home Office requirements for a visa.
