Thank you for your interest in joining us at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

We pride ourselves in striving to be an employer of choice.

Strategic Themes

Great Care
We will deliver safe, high quality, consistent and personalised care based on best practice. We are working to be a responsive organisation that listens and learns.

Great Organisation
We work to be a green organisation, and our sustainability plan will deliver NHS net zero targets. We will support quality care, research and innovation. All our work will be underpinned by clear and transparent principles and systems.

Great People
We will work together with our staff to create an organisation that supports our collective health and wellbeing. We will attract, retain and develop great people, and embed a caring, open, inclusive and restorative just culture that supports us to deliver quality care.

Great Partner
With our partners we will deliver health care that improves people’s quality of life, prevents ill health and reduces inequalities. We will spend our money wisely to achieve high quality outcomes that matter to local people.

At the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that’s job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have a ‘home’ office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

The successful applicant will be an NHS employee and may therefore have contact with vulnerable service users. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to take significant steps to protect the health and safety of our staff, service users and those attending our sites. Unless exempt, we encourage and support staff to be vaccinated as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19.

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS community, mental health, dementia and learning disability services to approximately 450,000 adults and children living in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Most of our services are based in local communities, enabling care to be provided as close as possible to where people live. Our quality achievements are underpinned by a strong track record of successful service and financial delivery. Rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission we have wonderful staff whose drive and commitment is outstanding and unfailing during the most difficult circumstances.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us more than ever the crucial importance of leadership for staff wellbeing, to ensure our teams are continually supported to provide the safest, most compassionate care. As we now return to ‘closer’ to normal, we know that the restoration of services for our patients is paramount.

In order to provide the very best outcomes for our population we recognise the need for closer working and greater integration of health and care services. As beautiful as Cornwall is, we face significant challenges: 140,000 of us live with long term conditions, 25% of us are over 65 and the disparity in health outcomes is widening. We are focused on finding opportunities alongside our partners in the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System (ICS) for new ways of working to deliver excellent care.

As part of a newly formed Leadership Team we are looking to appoint a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to our Executive Board. Accountable for professional leadership, clinical supervision and education of medical and pharmacy staff you will be the Trust’s Responsible Officer and oversee medical appraisal and revalidation. You will also lead clinical effectiveness, clinical strategy and research and development for the Trust and, with the Dual Chief Nursing Officer, you will play a key role in clinical governance and clinical leadership.

You will be pivotal to the further development of relationships with system partner organisations, alongside taking the lead role in addressing inequalities so that we can improve the health of our population and reducing inequalities for the people we serve.

We are seeking an exceptional Doctor with board level experience in a complex healthcare setting and significant understanding of and empathy for the services we provide. You must have a current GMC Registration and be licensed to practice. An inspirational and compassionate leader you will provide direction, purpose, pace and energy to ensure the entire medical and dental workforce is engaged, empowered, well- informed and playing the leadership role throughout the Trust that their level of experience and expertise merits.
