Climate Resilience Project Officer - West
This is a part-time post, 22½ - 30 hours per week, Mon – Fri (flexible)
Salary £24,496 per annum pro rata
Ideally candidates should live in or around the West of Cornwall, as the role will have a base in the local area (postcode on Indeed is used as a general location rather than an exact base). Although other candidates would be considered, mileage allowance will only be paid to and from appointments from your allocated base in West Cornwall.
Working as part of our Climate Resilience team, you will work closely with the Climate Resilience Programme Manager to support the West Cornwall Primary Care Network (PCN) in responding to the climate and ecological emergency.
Based in West Cornwall the post holder with liaise with a wide range of people in GP practices, PCN’s and the 3 Integrated Care Boards, other NHS and non-NHS bodies.
The successful applicant should have good presentation skills, with highly developed communication skills and an understanding of communication and engagement techniques.
Knowledge of the climate and ecological framework, the health care system and how networks operate is essential.
You must be able to drive and have a vehicle for use during working hours.
The post attracts an essential travel allowance of £600 per annum pro rata with business mileage paid at 45p per mile.

JOB DESCRIPTION
POST: Climate Resilience Project Officer – West
JOB PURPOSE: To work with the Climate Resilience Programme Manager in supporting the West Cornwall Primary Care Networks (PCN) in responding to the climate and ecological emergency.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Climate Resilience Programme Manager

KEY TASKS:
1. Communication
1.1 To work with the Programme Manager to actively engage & support clinical professionals across the West Cornwall PCN’s to co-design and produce solutions to the climate and ecological emergencies.
1.2 To develop and maintain good working relationships with clinical professionals and other related organisations and initiatives in the area to facilitate a joined-up response to challenges around health, care and climate.
1.3 To work with the Programme Manager to deliver the agreed aspirations of the West PCNs in relation to building resilience to the climate and ecological emergencies.
1.4 To work alongside relevant colleagues from Volunteer Cornwall and health & social care partners to develop resilience at all levels: practical, operational, strategic and social.
2. Information Technology
2.1 To manage the operation and maintenance of the database and other IT systems required for the project.
2.2 To provide management information and reports from the database as requested.
3. Finance
3.1 To work efficiently with due regard for the economical use of company time and resources.
4. Administration and Organisation
4.1 Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately, on time and is processed in line with Volunteer Cornwall’s policies and procedures.

BACKGROUND TO POST:
Funding has been secured from the Cornwall Integrated Care Board (ICB) to continue the programme to create a green plan for primary care to March 2024. As a partner, Volunteer Cornwall hosts and employs a Programme Manager (P/T) and two Project Officers supporting primary care in the Central, and North and East ICA areas. The new role will work with this team and cover West Cornwall.
The Programme Manager will ensure the projects are planned and delivered, benefits tracked and realised and that agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved, and the Project Officer will provide support to the Programme Manager.
The new role will liaise with a wide range of people in GP practices, PCNs, the 3 ICA Boards, other NHS and non-NHS bodies, including investing in the relationship with the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE) and its work to mitigate its own impact, and improve its ability to adapt (resilience) to impacts already in the pipeline.

Pay: £27,711.00 per year
