Job Location: Chepstow
Salary: £30,379.43 based on working 45.5 hours per week
Shifts are Monday to Thursday 6am until 4pm, and 6am until 2pm on Fridays
Contract Type: Permanent
Picture a warehouse. Now make it bigger. Now double its size. When your main product is Aluminium used in windows, doors, conservatories and Balustrades you need a lot of space. To give you a realistic idea, you could fit four full-sized football pitches in their warehouse.
In this space, their full production line happens, from receiving untreated goods, to painting, to adding the plastic that makes it insulated. Everything that turns a piece of aluminium into their high spec, top of the range products happens in this space.
Once the work has been done to create our products, we need team members to pick out orders, ready to be shipped to our customers. That’s where you come in.
As a warehouse operative, you’ll be in a very physical job. You’ll spend your days preparing on average 300 bars of Aluminium to be sent out to our customers. These aren’t light – Some of the bars are up to 25kg in weight (Don’t worry, we’d expect two people to lift this size!) You’ll also spend some time getting our accessories ready for dispatch too.
You’ll be trained on how to use our sales order processing systems, and how to recognise each product – All we need from you is a willingness to learn, and team player mentality, and the physical fitness to be able to keep our customers happy by making sure their orders are shipped out on time.
A day in the life of a Warehouse Operative will involve:
- Picking, checking and packing orders ready for dispatch – This could be up to 300 bars per day, so you’ll need lots of energy.
- Safely loading and unloading vans, ensuring the right products are going to the right place.
- Keeping system up to date with stock numbers, and what has been done so their customer service team know what to say if someone calls and asks.
- Playing a part in stocktakes when required, to make sure they have the right stock available at the right times.
- Working in a safe way to look after yourself, your colleagues, and the material they sell.
To be a successful Warehouse Operative, you’ll need:
- To be physically fit. Some of their team members do over 15,000 steps per day! And lift over a tonne of aluminium.
- To be willing to learn about their processes and products, and how to use their software.
- To be able to commit to their working pattern and be able to get to their warehouse. Public transport can be tricky, so a reliable way of getting there is needed.
- To have a can-do attitude and be willing to step in and help out team members when required.
In return for your commitment and expertise, you’ll get:
- Holidays – You’ll get 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays) which increases to 38 days with length of service.
- Your birthday off! – On top of your annual leave allowance, you’ll also get your birthday off – Paid! If it lands on a weekend, you can take it the day before or after!
- Pension scheme– The pension scheme is based on employees paying in 5%, we add 3%.
- Learning & Development Opportunities – They provide comprehensive learning opportunities for staff to develop themselves.
- Wellbeing Support – Staff wellbeing is always priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support through an “Employee Assistance Programme”
- Flu Jab – Nobody likes being ill, especially in winter months. That’s why they offer a flu jab to all their team members.
- A discretionary profit related bonus scheme – When they make profit, so do you! They have a profit related pay scheme to reward you when they all do well.
Once you’ve pass your probation you’ll also get:
- Cycle2Work -The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a reduced rate.
- Access to Medicash – a cash health plan with medicash to help with medical expenses.
- Discounted Gym Memberships – Medicash also provides discounts to Gyms as part of their offering.
