OVERALL FUNCTION
This role will support our existing Training and Development team, through supporting our Training and Membership Officer with the promotion, development and delivery of training courses.
HOURS OF WORK AND SALARY
This post is 14 hours per week (flexible two days across, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). The role is office-based in Edinburgh, with occasional travel to support training delivery. The role may involve early starts or late finishes, or a change of working day, depending on where the training is being delivered, advance notice will be given.
A salary of£8,889 (FTE £22,222) per annum will be paid monthly by bank transfer, usually on or around the 25th of the month.
The post is funded until 31st March 2026. This post will be subject to satisfactory references, PVG checks and a 3-month probationary period.
We offer an auto-enrolment pension scheme after 3 months of service and will contribute 3% of your salary costs in addition to your annual salary.

Essential criteria
- Have excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Demonstrate a good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Be friendly and approachable.
- Be a good team worker and can use own initiative.
- Be highly organised and enjoy carrying out process-based tasks.
- Proficient in the use of social media.
- Show an understanding of the importance of play for children.
- Enjoy researching online and be able to relay relevant information.
- Be adaptable to varied and changing workloads.
- Flexibility around working hours of the day.
Highly advantageous criteria
- Have experience working in the charity sector.
- Have previous administrative or supporting trainers experience.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Create marketing, website and social media content, considering the needs of our different audiences.
· Support the coordination of booking and administration of our training courses.
· Promotion of our training courses and events.
· Attend the training courses and be on hand to support the trainer when required.
· Support the evaluation process of our training courses – gathering the data and inputting the feedback into our central database.
· Support a variety of other administrative tasks associated with the Training and Development team.
· Complete any further reasonable tasks at the request of the managers.
· Help maintain the stock of training resources and boxes, including sources of materials and cleaning.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Day-to-day support and supervision will be given by the full-time Training and Membership Officer. Annual appraisal sessions and quarterly support and supervision meetings will be arranged with the Operations Manager, Strategic (SPN).

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
In common with all SPN staff, the post holder will be expected to work in accordance with the aims of the Smart Play Network and to observe the policy and procedures set out by the Chief Executive of the Charity.
The post holder will be expected to act in accordance with SPN’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

The post holder will be expected to assist with any reasonable administrative duty at the request of the line manager for the post.
A PVG check will be required prior to employment start of employment.
