Position: Studio Supervisor
Location: Tiverton
Contract: Part-time, 16 hour contract (with scope for up to around 32 hours for the right person)
Pay: £13 per hour + tips
Availability: Must be able to work at least 1 evening per week (plus an extra evening every other week) and most weekends, with at least 1 Saturday off per month. Sadly, this role isn’t suitable to fit within school hours.
Must be over 18
Start date: Immediate start available

Happy Glaze Pottery is a fun and friendly paint-your-own pottery studio in the heart of Tiverton. We help people of all ages relax, create, and make memories—whether they’re popping in for a chilled painting session, celebrating a birthday, or joining one of our popular themed events. We’re a small independent business with big heart and big plans—and we’re looking for brilliant people to join our team!
About the Role
We’re looking for a confident, reliable, and friendly Studio Supervisor to support the smooth running of our busy studio. You’ll lead shifts, provide excellent hospitality, and help create a welcoming and creative atmosphere for every customer.
This role is perfect for someone with hospitality supervisor experience and barista/bar service skills who wants to bring those talents into a fun, creative environment. An interest or background in creativity, arts, or pottery would be hugely beneficial, helping you thrive in the artistic, hands-on setting we’ve built.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising shifts and supporting the team to deliver a smooth and positive customer experience
- Greeting customers and guiding them through the pottery painting process
- Offering creative tips and encouragement to painters of all ages
- Serving drinks (including cocktails) and cake from our café/bar area
- Managing bookings and taking payments
- Supporting with parties, events, and workshops
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked studio environment
- Glazing pottery and operating the kiln (full training provided)
- Occasionally supporting at external events
You’ll Need To Be
- Experienced in hospitality supervision, barista and/or bar service
- Confident, approachable, and great with people of all ages
- Reliable, energetic, and proactive
- Comfortable leading a small team and also working independently
- Comfortable using an iPhone & iPad for our online reservations diary, customer communications and till system
- Organised, responsible, and able to stay calm under pressure
- Creative-minded or interested in arts/pottery (a big bonus, though not essential)
- Available to work evenings and weekends (with regular Saturdays)
- Happy to muck in wherever needed—flexibility is key in a small business!
