Brief Description
This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video Working in Supply Chain Operations

About the role (External)
The purpose of this role is to carry out storekeeping responsibilities for Fleet and Engineering rolling stock across the UK. The role involves maintaining stock levels in line with operational requirements, while efficiently coordinating and distributing stock to support nationwide activities.
Key accountabilities include:
1. Management of stock levels for all parts for Fleet and Engineering rolling stock working in conjunction with the store coordinator for the distribution of parts.
2. Manage receipts of goods in accordance with Network Rail Standards and Procedures.
3. Accurately manage records of goods with all relevant paperwork and electronics systems maintained.
4. Maintain a high level of tidiness and good housekeeping practises in all store areas.
5. Monitor and report the use of stock, identifying improvements where appropriate and sharing best practise in a way of delivering business improvements.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:
Essential
- Substantial experience in a stores environment with the ability to prove effective management of large stores and stock.
- Excellent planning and organisational capabilities.
- Strong communication skills.
- UK driving license.
- Computer literate with knowledge of relevant stock handling software.
- A good understanding of commercial processes and being financially astute.
Desirable
- It would be beneficial to have knowledge of FAMS (Fleet Asset Management Software).
- Some experience in the railway industry would be nice to have but is not essential.
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) competency.
Vacancy type: This role is permanent.
Location: This position is based at our York Holgate Depot (5 days per week in the office). Cover may be required in Sandiacre Nottingham on occasion.
Hours: 35 hours per week with hybrid working and travel as required.
Salary range: £32,000 - £33,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
