We are currently seeking a skilled Sewing Machinist to join our team in Redcar, specialising in the production of high-quality leather clothing. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience working with industrial sewing machines and leather materials, who takes pride in their craftsmanship and attention to detail.Key Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial sewing machines (such as flatbed, walking foot, and cylinder arm machines) to stitch, assemble, and finish leather garments and accessories.
- Work from patterns and specifications to accurately sew leather pieces.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including threading, cleaning, and minor adjustments.
- Inspect finished products for quality and consistency.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace in line with health and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with a 45-minute unpaid break)
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (with a 15-minute unpaid break)
Overtime Pay:
- Weekdays: Time and a third
- Weekends: Time and three-quarters
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a sewing machinist, ideally with leather garments or upholstery.
- Familiarity with using various types of industrial sewing machines.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in stitching and assembly.
- Ability to follow instructions, technical drawings, and patterns.
- Good time management skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
