Higher Hopes Ltd are specialist providers of Therapeutic Residential Homes to young people aged 8 to 18 years.
As an expanding business and preparing to open our second home, we are in a position to recruit for Therapeutic Care Workers.
Our aim is to open a second home with the same ethos, purpose and values as our first, to provide high levels of care for either males or females with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties.
The home will be located in/around the Huntingdon area and accommodate up to 5 young people.
By joining our team, you will be working closely with the young people in our care, the management team and external professionals to provide a service that is in the best interest of each young person.
At times, behaviours can be unpredictable and challenging and may include destruction of property, verbal and physical aggression, absconding from the home or school and self-harm.
Resilience, patience, consistency, and compassion are all attributes needed in this role. You will essentially be a professional parent and role model to our young people and work with them to build positive and meaningful relationships, support them with their goals and ambitions, promote their wellbeing, rights and independence and help them grow.
You will support with basic life skills, household duties, contact visits and out in the community.
Main role and responsibilities:
- To give support and guidance to the young people
- Provide a safe and nurturing home in which the children can grow emotionally and socially
- Safeguard each young resident, identify concerns and report them effectively
- Use Positive Behaviour Support Plans to understand the needs of the young person and what their strengths and goals are
- Implement and maintain clear and consistent boundaries
- Play an active part in everyday life including household duties, school runs, health appointments, contact visits and extracurricular activities
- To be a role model to children, young people and staff
- Ensure all needs of the home are met and staff receive ongoing support and training
- To positively engage and provide supervision, team meetings and reflective practice in and outside the shift pattern to stay resilient, refreshed and competent in your role
- To fulfil all aspects of your role in line with our policies and procedures positively and with a ‘can do’ attitude
Person Specification:
- Caring, kind and compassionate
- Have an in-depth understanding of safeguarding and challenging behaviours
- Organised and motivated, with a genuine passion for supporting young people
- A willingness to go the extra mile
- Ability to remain calm and positive under pressure
- A flexible approach to meet the needs of the home
- To be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Essential Criteria:
- Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
- QCF Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care or equivalent for a Senior role
- 2 years’ experience of working with vulnerable children and young people for a Senior role

All successful candidates offered employment will be subject to compulsory screening checks; this will include employment references and an Enhanced DBS check. Candidates must also be 21yrs for OFSTED compliance reasons.
*Travel allowance paid after first 10 miles each way for full-time permanent staff
Salary is made up of two elements. Hourly rate for day shifts, plus a fixed rate of £60 per sleep.
