Role Overview
This is a supporting role within our procurement and operations team. You'll work under the guidance of senior staff to help with purchasing steel, co-ordinating deliveries, organising transport, and assisting in the smooth day-to-day running of projects.
It's a varied and hands-on position that involves liaising with suppliers, contractors, clients, and workshop teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the procurement manager in the day-to-day management of projects
- Order steel and track deliveries.
- Assist in organising transport and ensuring materials are delivered on schedule.
- General filing & administrative tasks
The right candidate will...
- Hold a valid UK driving licence — some local travel will be part of the role
- Experience in steel purchasing, logistics, or construction is a bonus — but not essential.
- Be organised and able to manage basic admin tasks and follow-through on instructions.
- Strong communication — be able to listen, take direction, and keep others informed.
- Have good people skills - be friendly, respectful, and able to get on with a wide range of personalities. Communicate clearly with internal and external teams to keep things running smoothly. Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, clients, and colleagues.
- Be a helpful, flexible presence — stepping in where needed across different parts of the operation. Bring a proactive attitude and a willingness to get involved wherever needed.
- Display a willingness to learn, follow instructions, and ask questions when you're unsure. Come prepared to learn on the job — we don't expect you to know everything on day one!
