Job Purpose:
- To coordinate an award scheme promoting physical activity and healthy eating for community and voluntary organisations working with children, young people and families across Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster.
- To develop and deliver training and advice sessions on physical activity and play, and to support staff in early years settings, schools, and community and voluntary organisations to increase opportunities for children, young people and families to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.
- This role will be supported by a Senior Dietitian and a Nutritionist, who coordinate different aspects of the service, as well as a Physical Activity and Play Adviser.
Responsibilities:
Training, advice and workshop delivery
- To develop and deliver training courses for staff working with children, young people and families. These courses must enable participants to provide evidence-based information about physical activity and promote it to the children, young people and families they work with.
- To develop and deliver assemblies, lessons and workshops for children, young people, parents/carers and families that promote physical activity
- To provide advice to schools, early years settings and community organisations on planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating initiatives that promote physical activity.
Award Scheme Coordination
- To coordinate an award scheme for community and voluntary organisations working with children, young people and families, aiming to support them to engage and take positive action to promote healthy eating and physical activity.
- To promote the award scheme to community and voluntary organisations and encourage participation
- To support community and voluntary organisations to meet the criteria for the award scheme
- To coordinate the process for reviewing and approving award applications
- To coordinate a process for presenting awards and celebrating the success of community and voluntary organisations
Partnership Working
- To promote and represent the organisation’s work at local or regional meetings and networks
- To work in partnership with the Healthy Early Years and Healthy Schools Coordinator to support early years settings and schools to meet the physical activity requirements of the awards.
- To deliver engaging activities to promote key healthy lifestyle messages and local services at key community events.
Monitoring and Reporting
- To monitor progress against programme targets and take a proactive approach to ensuring they are met.
- To record, report and evaluate activities, and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the programme

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- A degree or higher-level qualification in a physical activity or Public Health related subject. REPs accreditation desired.
- Substantial experience developing and delivering training courses
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, particularly in training delivery
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with a track record of delivering successful programmes and projects in line with desired outcomes
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present evidence-based health information clearly and accessible to a wide range of people including other professionals, parents and carers, children and young people.
- Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating physical activity sessions and programmes for children, young people and their families.
- Experience of working with schools, early years settings, with a good understanding of the UK education system.
- Experience of working with community and voluntary organisations
- An awareness, understanding and commitment to safeguarding and child protection. An enhanced DBS check is required for the role.
- Proficient ICT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, MS Teams, Zoom, Filemaker Pro, and Asana
- Ability to use initiative, organise and prioritise work, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively
- Enthusiasm and a passion for physical activity, play and increasing opportunities for children, young people and families to integrate physical activity into their day to day lives.
Contract: Fixed term for up to 12 months with potential for extension.
Location: Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster. Candidates must be able to work from home and at various sites across the boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster.
Start Date: By January 2026 at the latest, with an earlier start date welcomed.
