We are hiring PBS Support Workers for our Supported Living Bungalows development in Linthwaite, Huddersfield.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is about working in partnership with people, treating them with dignity and respect and enabling them have a better life.
All behaviours have a meaning. Positive Behaviour Support aims to understand what behaviours that challenge tell us so that the person’s needs can be met in better ways.
Positive Behaviour Support is an approach that puts the person at the centre to make systems work for the person. We give the right support at the right time so people can thrive to their potential.
You will provide person centred support to empower adults with learning disabilities and autism. These individuals may display behaviours that challenge and have complex needs. You will support them to live a fulfilled and independent life in the community.
Your role will include:
- Support individuals in their own homes, with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge.
- Provide a minimum of 2:1 support to individuals with complex needs and various mental health diagnosis.
- Play an integral role in the collaborative care & wellbeing team and contribute to updating Support Plans.
- Be responsible for administering medication.
- Document and maintain accurate records of support provided.
- Supporting individuals to get involved in different activities in and around their local areas, in line with their hobbies and interests.
- Empowering people to gain life skills; Maintaining their own home, shopping, cooking, cleaning, managing their own finances and other aspects of their life.
- Work in line with Compass Care’s core values to achieve positive outcomes for the people we support.
- This supported living service is 24/7, so you’ll be working shifts on a rota basis.
Your suitability:
- Minimum 1 year experience needed; Working With Behaviours That Challenge and Autism.
- You have experience of working with younger adults,
- Flexible and able to work including evenings / weekends / nights.
- Good communication and IT skills.
- Patience, empathy, resilient and proactive in your approach.
- Minimum Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- To have an up to date, valid enhanced DBS or be willing to undertake a DBS check (paid by Compass Care).
