As a Cleaning Operative, you’ll carry out daily cleaning tasks including vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting toilets, and cleaning kitchens, surfaces, and glass. You’ll manage waste and recycling, maintain safe storage of materials, and follow health and safety procedures. The role requires good communication, flexibility, and the ability to prioritise tasks. COSHH knowledge, manual handling skills, and basic IT experience are desirable.
Daily working hours (2 short shifts per day):
Mornings 5am to 7am (2 hours each morning)
Evenings 5pm to 7.30pm (2.5 hours each evening)
You will be responsible for
What I do:
- The vacuuming and mopping down of all areas
- Wash or wipe where necessary all furniture, fixtures, and fittings
- The cleaning of kitchen surfaces and fridges
• Wipe down glass doors, door handles, panels and inside of windows, frames and sills • Clean, mop and disinfect toilet areas, panels and tiles
- Keep cleaning area tidy at all time
- Ensure cleaning materials are safely stored and secured
- Empty and wipe down waste / recycling bins. Transfer general waste, cardboard, plastics, recyclable items to segregated external bins
- To complete the daily / weekly tasks and duties in line with Service Support Centre Cleaning Team Task Plans
- Be able to manage your own workload, prioritise, and take ownership of tasks and support your cleaning team colleague's workload when necessary
- Ensure cleaning tasks are being completed to pre-determined specifications and standards throughout
- Be polite and have good communication with colleagues, and visitors at all times
- To ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner in accordance to Facilities Team Policies, Risk Assessments and Cleaning Task Plans. Ensure that provided PPE is worn
- To manage and control all consumable ordering of stock and communicate requests via ordering process
- You must complete all relevant Health & Safety records and attend training courses when needed
- Attend business and team updates/meeting as required
- Support Charity and Community initiatives taking place in the Store Support Centre
Skills I need:
- Experience in COSHH desired
- Manual Handling skills preferable
- Experience with Microsoft Office / Outlook applications preferable
- Good understanding of health and safety, food hygiene and allergens
- Provide outstanding customer service
- Experience of balancing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to be flexible to provide cover for sickness / holiday
