Hours: 30 hours per week

The Opportunity

You’ll play an active role in supporting both our staff and students in a wide range of musical and technical activities. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that our students can access and make the most of our specialist music facilities, including recording studios, rehearsal spaces, and performance venues. Your guidance will help our students develop their creative and technical skills through hands-on learning and collaborative projects.

You’ll work closely with teaching staff to provide technical support across both studio and live performance settings. This includes setting up, operating, and troubleshooting PA systems and studio equipment, as well as offering assistance during sound checks, stage setups, and live mixing. Your knowledge of the music industry and current live music practices will enhance the student learning experience and help prepare them for work in a professional environment.

Maintaining a safe and high-quality learning environment will be part of your daily responsibilities. You’ll carry out routine inspections of facilities and equipment, coordinate repairs when needed, and ensure that all resources are in good working order. You’ll also manage the booking and tracking of equipment used by our staff and students and ensure that teaching spaces are set up and cleared efficiently before and after use.

This is a great opportunity if you’re looking to combine your technical skills with your passion for music in a hands-on, creative environment.

About You

For this role, you’ll need to be someone who combines technical expertise with a hands-on, supportive approach. You should have at least one year’s relevant work experience, ideally gained within the music industry or a related specialist area. Previous experience working in recording studios, live venues, or similar environments will be important, as will your ability to apply that industry knowledge in a practical, educational setting.

You’ll need a solid understanding of audio equipment, PA systems, and music technology. You're confident setting up, operating, and troubleshooting technical kit, and you’re comfortable working in both studio and live performance contexts. Your previous industry experience will enable you to bring real-world insights into your support for our students and staff.

We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and proactive. You’ll be responsible for managing equipment bookings, carrying out routine maintenance, and responding quickly to technical issues to keep things running smoothly. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will be key in maintaining high-quality, safe learning spaces.

Equally important is your approach to working with others. You’ll be approachable and patient, with a genuine interest in supporting students as they develop their skills. You’ll be someone who can build positive relationships, contribute to a team, and work flexibly in a creative environment. This could be a great opportunity for you if you're someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in high standards, and wants to support the next generation of musicians.

Below is a list of some of the key skills, qualifications and experience we are seeking for this exciting opportunity.
