Ladybarn Group Practice are seeking an experienced , enthusiastic, hardworking and motivated part-time receptionist to join our friendly team in this very busy GP practice.
The post is for 20 hours per week on a 5hour shift rota basis, and the person must be flexible and available between the hours of 8am-7pm Monday-Friday.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide a welcoming , friendly, polite reception service for all patients and visitors responding appropriately and professionally to all queries.
Assessing and providing the patient with a clear and concise navigation pathway to ensure they are seen by the correct healthcare professional, whether that be with a doctor/nurse/HCA/physio or other speciality services.
Providing a professional call-handling service in a courteous and helpful manner on our busy switchboard, ensuring calls are dealt with quickly and carefully. Awareness must be maintained that often patients may be anxious or distressed and must be dealt with the utmost sensitivity and respect.
To encourage all patients who need a GP appointment to book this online via our website. To assist patients less confident or less able to use the online service by filling in the form for them.
To ensure actions requested by doctors are undertaken in a timely and accurate manner.
To undertake a variety of administration duties including preparing and printing repeat prescriptions according to standard operating procedures at patients request, ensuring all claim forms are accurately completed and directed to the appropriate department, photocopying, filing and clerical support to others.
To deal with online requests for medication and other queries and accurately update and maintain patients computerised records.
To receive and receipt cash and cheques from patients for non-NHS services in line with operating procedures.
To act as a chaperone for doctors (if trained to do so and subject to current DBS check)
Actively participate in practice activity eg staff meetings, team or individual training, knowledge sharing etc.
The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with the general public and have excellent communication skills. They must be assertive whilst always remaining empathetic. The role whilst incredibly rewarding can be challenging and hectic but is always varied and interesting. The role really suits someone who is good at problem solving.
