About the role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Pathology Team at Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth. This is a small but strategically located laboratory next to the St Johns Wood train station.
The laboratory has the benefit of a multi-discipline repertoire in a moderately paced environment. Working hours are between weekdays 7am to 9:30pm on rotation, plus rotation onto the Saturday shift, paid as additional to 37.5 hours.
This offers a good work/life balance for staff.
The successful candidate will participate in the requesting of all pathology by recieving and booking in the samples into the LIMS (Winpath) system. Additionally dealing with client calls and queries via email and by phone. There is a specific repertoire of testing that is compete onsite (Hematology, Biochemistry, Transfusion), all other samples are referred to the main laboratory (Halo). Sample reception MLAs are integral in ensuring that for each sample the appropriate requested investigations are performed in a timely manner and to ensure that specialised and urgent specimens are appropriately dealt with.
It is desirable for the successful candidate to have suitable experience in a laboratory or sample reception area.
The role offers opportunity to develop additional quality control/assurance skills and responsibilities, health and safety practices, and various other internal and external training avenues.
Being part of the TDL regional labs group, staff are supported by and contribute to the other TDL regional labs functions in sharing input into troubleshooting, training, peer auditing, presenting training sessions and supporting company projects.
