Job Summary
We are looking to recruit a reliable and experienced HR & Payroll Officer to support our small but growing team. This is a part-time role (16 hours/week) with flexibility around working days and hours. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining employee records, and supporting the overall human resources function. This position requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in various payroll and accounting software.
Payroll Administration
- Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with HMRC and employment legislation.
- Enter and maintain payroll-related data, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, and statutory deductions.
- Use payroll/accounting software such as BrightPay and QuickBooks for payroll processing, financial reporting, and reconciliation.
- Generate payroll reports and metrics for management review.
- Assist with accounts payable as needed, including processing invoices related to payroll services.
HR Administration
- Manage and support the recruitment process using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), including job posting, candidate tracking, and interview coordination.
- Maintain and update employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support onboarding of new staff: prepare documentation, conduct orientation sessions, and ensure a smooth start.
- Maintain and organise attendance and employee status records to support accurate payroll and compliance reporting.
HR Support & Compliance
- Act as a point of contact between management and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies in collaboration with management and other departments.
- Provide administrative support for HR projects such as performance reviews, training initiatives, and employee engagement activities.
- Generate reports from HR and payroll systems to support business decision-making.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in payroll processing or a similar role within human resources.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems; experience with Workday is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Brightpay, QuickBooks is an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with employees and management.
