As Head of Recruitment & People Operations, you’ll lead the strategy and delivery that makes this possible, ensuring every team member is ready to create an unforgettable Wimbledon experience.
Head Of Recruitment & People Operations - The Role In A Nutshell.
This is a year-round position where your primary focus is to recruit, onboard, and look after the people who bring The Championships to life. You’ll oversee the full recruitment process for the 3,000-strong team, and coordinate the operational people agenda for the event.
From sourcing talent and managing returners, to planning recruitment days, forecasting requirements, and ensuring every new starter is fully compliant and in the right role — you’ll be the engine behind the operation. You’ll also play a key role in payroll and timesheet management, supporting in-venue HR activity during the event, and working closely with L&D to ensure a seamless employee experience.
Beyond The Championships, you’ll also be involved in providing support to the operations team in full-time recruitment, and supporting other major events, and other variable workforce projects across the Levy family.
Getting Into The Detail...
- Lead the end-to-end recruitment cycle for The Championships workforce, from November returner campaigns to April/May onboarding.
- Manage and support the people operations function during the event, ensuring the welfare and engagement of all team members.
- Deliver recruitment days and assessment events that attract high-quality candidates.
- Oversee compliance, right-to-work checks, and role allocation for all hires.
- Partner with L&D to support training delivery.
- Manage payroll and timesheets, ensuring accuracy for a [NT2] multi-million labour budget.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the employee journey, utilising platforms like Ubeya to enhance the whole employee lifecycle.
- Support recruitment for other major sporting and hospitality events year-round.
What you’ll bring...
- Strong recruitment experience, ideally with large-volume or event-based teams.
- An understanding of the nuances of a variable workforce and its operational demands.
- Hospitality experience preferred, but not essential.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and forecasting skills.
- Calm under pressure, with the ability to pivot quickly in a live event environment.
- Experience setting up and delivering large-scale recruitment events.
- A people-first mindset with the ability to inspire and lead your team.
