Head of Student Operations

Location: Field based regular UK travel

Reporting; Operations Director

Hours of Work: 40 Hours

Salary £50,000+ bonus + Car Allowance

Introduction

Cloud Student Homes manages Student Accommodation in England. We focus on providing our students with more than ‘just’ their accommodation, providing the safety, security and social aspect of University life.

The role of the Head of Student Operations is to lead the day-to-day operational management, compliance and student support for the portfolio. Supporting the site teams to provide exceptional student service, in a homely, and compliant environment, whilst focusing on improving operational and financial aspects of the Student Operations team, ensuring seamless coordination and communication across all departments, in line with the Company Mission Statement

Main Responsibilities and functions;

  • To ensure consistent application of policies and procedures by overseeing the induction and training of all appointed staff within the department
  • To clearly and positively communicate and articulate company expectations regarding financial goals, performance goals, and business operational requirements
  • To participate in regular key stakeholder meetings where required
  • To lead, support and participate in Open Days, Check In Days, University Events and other external events where required to support the operational team
  • To lead, support and work closely with Accommodation Managers to ensure the summer turnaround is conducted to a high standard, and completed in line with company timescales.
  • To ensure the ongoing development of our student welfare guidelines, enabling a safe environment for all staff and residents, ensuring all team members can provide relevant signposting and guidance
  • To support the Head of Sales and Marketing in the sales and marketing strategy, in line with key business objectives across the properties
  • To monitor current market trends, and support the sales and marketing strategy of the Head of Sales and Marketing through regular communication, to ensure any adaptations required are applied effectively and communicated efficiently to the operations team
  • To work with the accommodation managers to ensure that each accommodation builds within it, a community atmosphere with a varied social calendar, including involving students to organise and participate in promoting the accommodation.
  • Assist in managing the financial performance of each property within the portfolio, completing monthly reviews with each Accommodation Manager and developing strategies to mitigate with the finance team and directors.
  • To assist the finance team and directors in the creation of budgets to be presented to relevant parties, and communicate this effectively with the Accommodation Manager
  • To work closely with the Directors, Accommodation Managers and external partners to ensure a safe and compliant environment is maintained, with all maintenance requests completed in line with company timescales
  • To ensure statutory obligations are met in relation to Health & Safety, Risk Management, Fire, Security and others to promote a safe working environment, ensuring appropriate training is identified and delivered for all staff in the operations department
  • To ensure with the Facilities Coordinator and external partners that all statutory testing is completed onsite, and audit all site records on a regular basis
  • To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility for the role, whether that be on-the-job training, in house or external training
  • Ability to travel across properties regularly in order to support the accommodation managers, manage company expectations and ensure the properties are compliant and of a high standard

  • The company does operates an annual leave blackout period from 10th Aug - end of Sept, every year to cover the new academic intake of students into the property.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £50,000.00 per year
