Location: Oxfordshire

**Please note this role is onsite 5days per week and is not Hybrid or WFH **

At Mitie, we know that the spaces where we work and serve are shaped by the people who look after them. Our dedicated teams—from frontline staff to senior leaders—work hard every day to make sure our centres run smoothly and efficiently. We're proud of the impact we have, and we're looking for someone who shares that passion for excellence.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Facilities Management professional to lead the way at our immigration centre. You'll be responsible for setting the strategic direction of all FM services, ensuring everything runs safely, smoothly, and in line with all regulations.

In this role, you'll drive innovation and continuous improvement, working closely with other teams to deliver the best possible service. You'll oversee the facilities team, manage resources effectively, and keep everything within budget, making sure we meet and exceed expectations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, support, and motivate your team to perform at their best, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
  • Oversee daily FM activities to guarantee the centre's operations are safe, secure, and compliant with all laws and standards.
  • Develop your team through coaching and training, helping everyone grow and succeed.
  • Make sure all contract requirements, service standards, and performance targets are met or exceeded.
  • Encourage new ideas and ongoing improvements to add value for management and the wider community.
  • Create and review plans, policies, and procedures to keep services running smoothly.
  • Manage subcontractors and specialist service providers, ensuring quality, safety, and budget compliance.
  • Keep a close eye on budgets, controlling costs without compromising on quality.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring everyone's wellbeing is a top priority.
  • Handle any escalated service issues quickly and professionally to keep disruptions to a minimum.
  • Manage audits and inspections, ensuring compliance and implementing improvements where needed.
  • Oversee small capital projects and repairs, making sure they're completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

What We're Looking For

  • A recognised qualification in electrical engineering, gained through an apprenticeship or similar training.
  • A Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH (essential) or NEBOSH (desirable).
  • Good knowledge of maintenance scheduling systems like SFG20.
  • Experience leading and managing teams—including recruitment, staff development, and handling absences.
  • Solid understanding of building services like heating, ventilation, refrigeration, electrical systems, and public health.
  • Must have Hard service experience in a similar environment
  • Must be happy to be available for on-call incidents if needed

Additional Information

All roles are subject to security checks and background screening:

  • You must be a British citizen, EU citizen with settled status, or hold ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) from a Commonwealth country.
  • Checks will include your financial history, criminal record, and social media activity.
  • You should have lived in the UK for the past three years, with limited travel outside the UK beyond holidays.

If you're ready to lead a dedicated facilities team and make a meaningful difference in people's lives, we'd love to hear from you!
