Role Purpose
The Garden Maintenance Team Supervisor ensures that all Garden Maintenance teams are deployed effectively, standards are maintained across jobs, and new staff are assessed and trained in Willow Alexander’s service culture. This role bridges between management and the field, enforcing performance, discipline, and quality on behalf of the Garden Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Morning Operations
- Lead daily morning briefing with Team Leaders (job schedule, standards, client priorities).
- Work with Yard Manager to ensure vans are fully equipped with the correct tools and stock.
- Manage lateness/absence cover: reallocate staff or step in personally if required.
People Management & Performance
- Act as first-line supervisor for all Team Leaders, monitoring their leadership and effectiveness.
- Assess and train Garden Maintenance Operatives (GMOs) during probation/trial periods.
- Monitor uniform compliance, job flow, and efficiency in line with WA standards.
- Report lateness, absence, or underperformance to Garden Maintenance Manager & Ops.
Quality Control & Client Assurance
- Conduct random on-site audits of teams during the day.
- Review job completion against schedule (time, standard, client satisfaction).
- Support client follow-up calls or site revisits to resolve concerns.
Training & Development
- Deliver training sessions for new hires and refreshers for existing staff (job flow, horticulture basics, health & safety).
- Mentor Team Leaders in people management and client handling.
Operations & Reporting
- Produce daily/weekly performance reports for the Garden Maintenance Manager.
- Escalate recurring issues (tool misuse, delays, repeat complaints).
- Act as “the eyes in the field” for upstairs operations.
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
- Deployment Efficiency: All vans out on time and equipped each morning.
- Quality Audits: % of jobs passing random audit checks without issues.
- Training Outcomes: Pass rate of GMOs after probation.
- Discipline: Reduction in lateness/absence across teams.
- Client Satisfaction: Fewer complaints/revisits, higher client retention.
Experience & Skills Required
- Previous leadership in horticulture/garden maintenance.
- Strong people management and training skills.
- Ability to balance fieldwork with reporting/admin.
- Confident, authoritative presence with staff and clients.
- Full UK driving licence (van driver).

Pay: £33,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
