Warren's Gardens Limited require an experienced gardener to join one of our busy grounds maintenance teams on a part time flexible basis.
The successful candidate will preferably have a driving license, at least one years contract gardening experience and worked in a similar position previously for a professional gardening company.
Plant knowledge, relevant power tool experience and attention to detail are a must as we work to very high standards in large and prestigious gardens. You may also be required to drive a large van so experience with this is required.
Attention to detail and a good attitude is a must.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning to keep lawns, gardens, and landscapes in excellent condition.
- Plant, cultivate, and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, and other vegetation, taking into account seasonal variations and specific site requirements.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides safely and effectively to promote plant health and control pests and weeds.
- Trim and shape trees, hedges, and shrubs to maintain desired size, shape, and appearance.
- Remove litter, debris, and fallen leaves from outdoor areas regularly to enhance the overall appearance of the grounds.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to plan and execute landscaping projects and seasonal enhancements.
- Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines at all times to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or landscaping roles.
- Knowledge of horticultural principles, plant care techniques, and landscaping practices relevant to the UK climate.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters and leaf blowers.
- Strong physical fitness and stamina to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and prolonged periods of outdoor work.
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating and maintaining attractive outdoor spaces.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required, particularly during peak seasons.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles (if applicable).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or qualifications in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field.
- Knowledge of local flora and fauna and their specific care requirements.
- Experience using specialized landscaping tools and equipment, such as lawn mowers or hedge cutters.
- First aid certification or training in health and safety practices.
Experience in all these areas of contract gardening is required. Ability to always follow health and safety procedures and use of appropriate PPE. Must be available for early starts and be willing to work in all weathers. Experience driving a large vehicle is an advantage. Excellent opportunity, immediate start available.
