Job Purpose:
To support the delivery of professional, dignified, and respectful funeral services by assisting in all aspects of funeral operations. The role requires sensitivity, discretion, and a high standard of personal conduct at all times, ensuring that the families we serve receive the highest level of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Funeral Duties:
- Assisting with the preparation and conduct of funerals, including acting as a bearer
- Driving company vehicles including hearses and limousines (clean driving licence essential)
- Preparing coffins, including lining, dressing, and nameplate affixing
- Assisting with dressing and preparation of the deceased with dignity and respect
- Liaising with clergy, celebrants, crematoria, and burial grounds on funeral day logistics
- Logistical Support:
- Driving and maintaining company vehicles to a clean and roadworthy standard
- Collecting and returning deceased individuals from hospitals, hospices, care homes or private residences
- Assisting in the maintenance and cleanliness of mortuary and garage facilities
- Chapel of Rest:
- Preparing and maintaining the chapel of rest for family viewings
- Assisting families during visits with compassion and professionalism
- Additional Duties:
- Supporting colleagues across all areas of the business, including floristry and masonry where necessary
- Attending training and development sessions as required
- Representing the company to the highest standard at all times, both in and out of uniform
Weekend and Call-Out Requirements:
- You will be required to participate in a weekend working rota to cover funeral services and other duties
- You will join the out-of-hours call-out rota, which includes attending to removals of the deceased outside normal working hours
- Additional payments or time off in lieu will apply as per company policy
Person Specification:
- Professional and presentable appearance at all times
- Calm, compassionate, and emotionally resilient
- Flexible and willing to work across all branches as needed
- Punctual, reliable, and trustworthy
- Full clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Experience in the funeral profession preferred but not essential – full training will be provided

Pay: From £12.44 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
