About us

In 2026, UCL will be celebrating its bicentenary, marking its establishment as the first university in London.

There will be an exciting programme of exhibitions, activities and events across and beyond UCL, including in The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment.

The Bartlett will host an exhibition featuring historical and recent projects by staff and students that showcase our work in and on London. The exhibition will be housed in the Lobby Gallery at 22 Gordon Street. It will be set up from 13 March 2026 and will be deinstalled by 22 May 2026.

The Bartlett is the UK’s largest and most multidisciplinary hub for built environment education and research, drawing students and academics from around the world. The exhibition will communicate the past, present and future of UCL’s research and impact in London, and will feature a variety of partnerships across UCL and across the capital. It will include a public programme that facilitates deeper engagements with the exhibits, creates opportunities to foster collaboration and interactions with our partners and alumni, and facilitates discussion about London built environment with diverse audiences.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced curator to lead the design and delivery of this multi-media exhibition and public events programme.

This is a fixed-term, part-time role (0.4 FTE) from September 2025 to June 2026.

The postholder will be responsible for developing and delivering the exhibition and public events programme and associated marketing and communication, for collection management, and for managing the exhibition budget. They will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in designing the exhibition; and will ensure that it effectively engages a variety of audiences.

The exhibition and its public programme will be expected to showcase and foster faculty priorities such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, climate action, public and community engagement, innovation and enterprise, health and public policy, and research and impact in London.

About you

Applicants must be knowledgeable and passionate about London and its built environment, creative and collaborative in their approach to curation, understand the profile of The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, and able to demonstrate expertise in curatorial, and exhibition design, programming and delivery.

They will have experience in exhibition, event and people management, excellent organisational and communication skills (both verbal and written), excellent interpersonal skills, and outstanding ability to liaise with a diverse range of people. They must be effective in prioritising tasks whist managing a demanding workload and be able to work calmly under pressure.

If you wish to discuss the post informally, please contact Professor Ben Campkin, Vice-Dean Public and City Engagement by email: b.campkin@ucl.ac.uk
