Apprentice Engineer – Electrical or Fire & Security
Location: Field-based (Essex, London & surrounding areas)
Salary: £16,000 – £30,000 per year (dependent on age and qualifications)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Training: Supported apprenticeship pathway (Level 3) with day release or block training

Pioneer Site Services delivers essential property maintenance and compliance services to social housing providers across the UK. Our areas of expertise include electrical testing, fire alarm servicing, emergency lighting, damp and mould remediation, and safety-critical repairs.

The Opportunity
As an apprentice, you’ll gain practical, on-site experience alongside our experienced engineers while also working toward a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll choose to specialise in either:
- Electrical Installation & Maintenance, or
- Fire & Security Systems (including alarms, emergency lighting and AOVs)

What You’ll Be Doing
- Assisting engineers with day-to-day installation, maintenance, and servicing tasks
- Learning how to use tools and equipment safely and correctly
- Helping install, test, and repair systems in residential and communal properties
- Supporting compliance tasks such as inspections and safety checks
- Keeping work areas clean and organised
- Attending college or training sessions as required
- Completing a logbook and learning portfolio with support from your mentor
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine interest in electrical or fire safety systems
- Enthusiasm to learn, get stuck in, and develop hands-on skills
- Good attitude, reliability, and willingness to take instruction
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and a focus on doing things safely and properly
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English – minimum Grade 4/C preferred
- Must be 16+ and eligible to work in the UK
- Full UK driving licence is an advantage but not essential
