The Whiteley Homes Trust, “the Trust,” is a charity that manages Whiteley Village in Surrey. The purpose of the charity is to provide homes for older people of limited means from all over the country. Founded over a hundred years ago in Walton on Thames, Surrey, the Village is located in 225 acres of beautiful grounds and is a very special place to live and work.
Working in our Clubhouse Community Café enhances the service we provide, adding extra value to our offerings. You will engage with customers, support daily operations, and help create a welcoming environment. This role offers the opportunity to build strong relationships not just with Whiteley Village residents, but with the wider community, while delivering excellent customer service and contributing to the development of future community services within the village as a charity.
As the Clubhouse Community Café Supervisor, you’ll be the welcoming face and steady hand behind our vibrant café space. From opening the doors each morning to ensuring every customer leaves with a smile, you’ll lead daily operations with warmth, precision, and pride. You’ll manage stock, support food preparation, uphold hygiene standards, and foster a positive environment for both customers and colleagues. Duties
- Key holder for unlocking the main clubhouse door, café door and cellar door *when appliable
- Turn off code in Café area (all keys and codes are provided)
- Turning on all lights in all areas; Lobby, Lounge, Café
- Turn on coffee machine/ till system
- Check all WC facilities including assessable toilet
- Check all relevant signage is in place (refer to tick sheet)
- Prepare frozen goods for café and hot offers
- Check all areas for trip hazards and all doorways are clear prior to opening
- Organise the day with breaks for team members
- Check event schedule for present day and future bookings per week
- Float in till ready for open (safe training provided)
- Check the Terrace area and ensure ready for opening
Customer Service
- Warmly greet customers and assist with their orders
- Serve food, beverages, and alcohol with professionalism and courtesy
- Check on customer satisfaction and bid them farewell
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any concerns promptly
Food Preparation
- Schedule and support in preparing food and drinks following established Café products, recipes and standards
- Ensure presentation and quality align with café expectations
- List on stock, cooked and waste sheet supplied in BOH area every am and pm when on shift
Hygiene and Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean and inviting café space, including tables, counters, and kitchen areas
- Wash dishes and utensils to uphold hygiene standards
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations
Cash Handling
- Operate the till register, process transactions, and provide accurate change
- Assist with balancing the till at the end of the shift
- Input daily float every morning and remove float at the end of trade
- Change management from Post office to ensure small change is sufficient
- Cashing up procedure every PM and submit the form to Manager with a breakdown per day
Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels and replenish supplies as necessary
- Liaise with Manager on all orders and supplies
- Support inventory checks to maintain efficiency
- Accept and sign for deliveries
