To undertake general caretaking and porterage duties, including first line maintenance of systems, H&S checks and grounds maintenance as required. Duties also include driving a variety of vehicles and responsibility for the checking, routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and transportation of goods, equipment and personnel to various locations. Create and maintain positive communications to ensure effective working relationships with individuals, teams and colleagues.
CORE WORK AREAS:
1. First line repair and maintenance of fixtures and fittings. Reporting to the Facilities Services Helpdesk when an external contractor is required.
2. Undertake statutory health and safety checks and maintain records including the testing of lighting, heating and alarm systems and emergency generators, and boiler plant.
3. Porterage duties including the preparation of venues for meetings/conferences/special events including provision and clearance of equipment, drinks etc. Undertaking office removals as required.
4. Provide and monitor daily consumable stocks as required for example custody supplies, light tubes and sorting of laundry, to ensure a high level of service is maintained.
5. The collation and preparation of waste for disposal, to include transportation where required. Operate and maintain the shredding machine where required.
6. Provide first line response to general equipment failures, to undertake repairs where possible. Maintain equipment and furniture as required.
7. Assisting with the cleaning of the premises in the absence of the cleaning staff, including kennels as and when required.
8. Grounds maintenance and keeping clean and tidy the building surrounds, including garages and car wash. Snow clearance and gritting of paths and walkways during bad weather.
9. Perform mail room and general courier duties as required to ensure a smooth running courier and driving service. Courier duties to include the transportation of prisoners, personnel, mail, equipment, property, confidential waste and scrap to various locations.
Collecting and delivering Police vehicles to enable maintenance events to be carried out and any other driving duties.
10. Cleaning Police owned vehicles, conducting checks and routine maintenance of own dedicated vehicles.
11. Monthly monitoring of the bulk fuel levels to ensure fuel stocks are maintained.
