Location: Oxford (various venues including museums and local community spaces)
Duration: July–August 2025 (exact dates TBC)
Hours: 5 hours a day, 4 days a week.
Pay: £12-18 based on experience
About Us
Tunnicliffe Education has been running HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) clubs since 2023, committed to offering creative, welcoming, and high-quality experiences for children and young people who are eligible for free school meals or otherwise meet HAF criteria. Our clubs take place in some of Oxford’s most inspiring venues and combine hands-on activities with a strong sense of community and fun.
This summer, our clubs will have science or art themes – but more than knowledge, what we’re looking for is enthusiasm, care, and creativity. We believe that children eligible for HAF deserve the best possible experiences, and we’re looking for team members who feel the same.
The Role
As a Youth Group Leader, you’ll be part of a small, supportive team responsible for delivering an engaging and joyful HAF club experience. You’ll help lead games, creative workshops, and learning activities – and support children to feel safe, seen, and celebrated.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a warm, inclusive environment where all children feel welcomed and valued
- Help run daily activities (arts, crafts, science experiments, games)
- Support participants during mealtimes and transitions
- Lead small group sessions, games, or creative projects
- Take initiative in solving problems and supporting the team
- Share your own passions – if you have a special skill (e.g. music, storytelling, coding, photography), we’d love you to build it into the programme!
Who We’re Looking For
- Enthusiastic and energetic individuals who love working with children
- Committed to delivering an excellent experience to children on the HAF scheme
- Reliable, kind, and great at thinking on your feet
- Experience working or volunteering with young people is a plus – but not essential
- DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) and safeguarding awareness will be required before work begins
Application Process
To apply, please send either:
- a short video (up to 2 minutes), or
- an audio recording (up to 2 minutes)
In your recording, please tell us:
- Why you’d like to work at a Tunnicliffe Education HAF club
- Any relevant experience working with children or in similar environments
- One activity idea you think would work well in a summer HAF club
We’re looking for warmth, clarity, and creativity – not a polished performance!
