The job:
This is a part time weekend post to support a young lady approaching 40. She has mild Learning Disabilities and Epilepsy. She is independent, energetic, loves to laugh, enjoys socialising and lives in the Derwenthorpe area of York.
The job role involves support with personal care. Duties include: light housework, cooking, prompting medication, shopping and supporting to socialise and enjoy activities in the wider community.
The right person:
Because of the personal care support, the young lady requires female carers.
You must be kind and caring, reliable, confident and assertive. No qualifications are needed, but a minimum of 6 months of experience supporting people with Learning Disabilities and Epilepsy is required. You should also have a good sense of humour and enjoy a good laugh!
It would be an advantage if you can drive and have their own vehicle for work purposes, but not required.
The hours:
This is a post for alternate weekends, 32 hrs of support and 2 sleep ins. The hours are:
Saturday 9am - 11pm (14 hrs)
Saturday overnight support (sleep in) 11pm - 7am
Sunday 7am - 11pm (16 hrs)
Sunday overnight support (sleep in) 11pm - 7am
Monday 7am - 9am (2 hrs)
There will also be the opportunity to pick up extra shifts to cover holidays and sickness.
The rates of pay and benefits:
£12.41 per hour and £81.92 per sleep in.
You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday and the opportunity for training relevant to your role.
