Kube Rigging supplies rigging to film and TV productions. We are offering an excellent opportunity to join our small team.
The yard operative will work primarily within Kube Rigging’s main yard outside in all weather supporting and working alongside the other yard workers. Fulfilling a wide range of tasks (relevant training provided), the successful candidate will have a positive can-do attitude, be very hardworking and reliable, excellent accuracy, willing to work flexible hours (whether early or late as our industry is not fixed hours) and be physically fit because heavy lifting is frequently required. Fork lift licence preferred but not essential.
For the right candidate this role may progress towards becoming a Lifting Technician ie checking and inspecting lifting equipment, for which full training will be given. There is also opportunity for the right candidate to progress to a supervisor role.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Inspect, count and load rigging equipment onto vehicles
- Ensure all equipment returned from locations is sorted, serviced and stored tidily ready for re-use
- Maintain accurate records of stock and orders
- Drive vans and lorry (manual not automatic ) to deliver and collect equipment
- Paint tube and fittings and maintain all equipment, machinery and drapes
- Cut tube and boards accurately
- Flexible to work very early or late hours at short notice. Regular 6am start or earlier. Willingness to work weekends when necessary. If you cannot be flexible on your hours e.g. working after 4.30pm / starting early or working Saturdays then please do not apply. We work in an industry where flexibility is essential to the job.
- Drive forklift to load/unload
- Study to pass LEEA training towards becoming lifting technician
- Use any necessary computer software if so required (training given)
- Maintain a tidy, safe and secure yard at all times
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent reliability and time keeping
- Good organisational skills
- Good accuracy and attention to detail
- Clean driving license (max 6 points) to drive vans
- HGV licence useful but not essential
- Physically fit and able to move and carry heavy items independently
- Forklift license useful but not essential
- Ability to understand and communicate fluently in English
- Positive attitude (even if working outside in the cold)
- Willingness and aptitude to learn
